UPDATE: Mom didn’t regift me thank goodness. She actually did a good job with her gifts this year, though there were a few “off the wall” gifts as always.
My quick rundown of what I got for Christmas:
I recently went to visit my parents for the first time in several years and while visiting them my mom had expressed wanting a police scanner—so I bought her one as an early birthday gift. While I was there, I expressed that they please, please, please not buy me anything for Christmas—my parents have an awful habit of purchasing really bad gifts. I then went on to say if they felt the overwhelming need to get me a gift, get me a Wal-Mart gift certificate*.
This past week a box arrives in the mail from my parents. From the looks of things, it’s too large to be a gift certificate so now I’m wondering if my parents have regifted me—one fairly new police scanner. Like the dutiful daughter I am, the box is sitting untouched until Christmas day but I bet dollars to donuts there’s a police scanner in there.
Stay tuned to see if I’ve been regifted.
*Note: I am morally opposed to Wal-Marts’ practices but the only store my parents have in their little town is a Wal-Mart—sad I know. At least I could buy groceries that would have much better use to me than any gift they could conjure.
