At worst, they would have needed to hire 1 PHP developer to handle minor custom work. It's frustrating to see such an obvious waste of money. It would be so much easier for them to buy a Linux box and run Apache/PHP/MySQL and use a free option. Will they do that? Hell no because their in-house folks are all MS Certified and don't have a clue about saving money.
