bla.stSeems the bla.st folks in the UK have come up with a refreshing way to run a directory—using business cards instead of text links. The service is free but you can also bid for higher placement a la Google’s Adwords. I’ve received a few hits from the site but as of yet no request for quotes. It’s fun to see the visual design of some of the cards—always a plus from a designers’ viewpoint. The site works with a visual hierarchy so your newly submitted business card is displayed larger than all the rest until someone comes along and “bumps you off.” Give it a try, though my hits haven’t been overwhelming, any hit is a good hit, right?

P.S., I learned about it from David Airey’s blog. Thanks David!

You’re very welcome Jen. I hope you get something out of it.

My name’s Jen; I’m a cynical, sarcastic, ex-drummer who is fond of dark humor. I've held way too many factory & retail jobs but finally found my calling one Christmas holiday in a dark, musty basement. I am now a CSS & XHTML web standards looney and can be found daily—when I’m not at my Mac—at the local fair-trade coffee shop buying an iced-soy mocha no matter the temperature.

I am also the owner of Pop Stalin Design specializing in CSS & XHTML web design as well as custom WordPress themes.
