Yesterday I launched the redesign of my business site, Pop Stalin Design. Gone is the “Illustrated” look and in place is, in my opinion, a better organized site. If you find any links on the blog not working, please let me know.

The site isn’t completely finished at this point, I still need to complete the portfolio page but other than that, it was an exercise in patience. I’m sure I’m also going to lose some of my SEO ranking but I figured what potential clients needed to know was going to be placed on the front page.

I’m excited to see the new design! I think it looks great so far. (Definitely a lot more professional than the former) I usually check your blog at least every few days since I discovered your interesting posts on Web Design Proposals and such.

Anyways, I also wanted to let you know that the two columns on the front page of the site below the Featured Projects are a little off in IE 6. (That column seems to be like that for some other pages too) (Internet Explorer can’t get much right anyway ;) ) I’m usually working on a Mac, but I happen to be at school right now with some Dell computers. I took a little screenshot for you just in case you wanted to check it out. (http://phail.net/popstalin.png)

    Keep up the good work!

Thanks Michael! See what happens when I forget to test in IE? Oops!

    Hey Jen,

I think I liked your former design better than the new one. While I think the new one is beter from an usability standpoint it somehow lacks the personality that your older design had.
It’s not a bad design but it can be better :)
The first thing that striked me at the new design is that it doesn’t have a clear focus. I would try to make the “web design with standards” stand out more as that area is the first thing a user would probably look at.
I also think that “Providing Creative Services for the World” isn’t as strong as a display type should be.

    Just my 2 cents.

Hey Razvan, thanks for the comments and suggestions. Though the former design was more ‘original’ I wanted something that was slightly more professional looking. I’ll certainly take your suggestions into consideration and thank you for taking the time to offer some very useful constructive criticism. Cheers!
