My name’s Jen; I’m a cynical, sarcastic, ex-drummer who is fond of dark humor. I've held way too many factory & retail jobs but finally found my calling one Christmas holiday in a dark, musty basement. I am now a CSS & XHTML web standards looney and can be found daily—when I’m not at my Mac—at the local fair-trade coffee shop buying an iced-soy mocha no matter the temperature.
I am also the owner of Pop Stalin Design specializing in CSS & XHTML web design as well as custom WordPress themes.
I’ve finally taken the plunge and am switching hosts. I decided to go with
[…] She had two reasons to move. She wanted a server with PHP5 and she wanted better uptime. She used HostICan’s SwitchNow service, where they transfer all your files and databases from your old web host, and apparently it worked flawlessly. […]

I was also having some issues with Siteocity’s uptime—it seemed I was down at least twice a month and I just can’t have that being a freelance web designer. I had mentioned they have a feature called “SwitchNow” that transfers your site from one host to another and it worked flawlessly. […]
I know it’s only been one day but so far I’m happy with the service. My site is faster and the customer support is spot on. I called them yesterday and got a real live human, didn’t have to wait and the guy was super-nice. Even complimented my on my site design.
Then I sent them a support ticket yesterday asking them to implement something on my server and within a half-hour it was done.
As far as the uptime? Well, we’ll see about that, won’t we?
Yayness! Congrats on the move. I don’t know anything about the company you are using, but I do know one of the hosts I use claims 99.9% uptime and well…that’s a joke really. So, let me know if they do live up to their claim. It’d be nice to see a hosting service actually provide a reliable service for a change. (I’m not bitter or anything. No, really.)
